I have a 10' Mike Ladle Surespin spinning rod. The ceramic guides in the end ring are chipped causing chaffing to my line. How do I remove it and how do I make sure I get the correct replacement ?
Thanks for all advice Re: Replacing end ring ?

If the tip is one with a tube, the complete tip has to come off using some heat to break the glue bond. You have to be careful how much heat you use to prevent any damage to the blank itself. If tip glue was used, they usually come off fairly easy. If epoxy was used, it can be a bit harder. After the tip is off, you want to make sure you clean off all the glue that is left behind, a little heat and some scrapping with the edge of a xacto blade will remove it. To get a replacement tip, measure the diameter of the tip of the blank. Tube sizes for tips are in 64ths in the catalogs. Also you can measure the OD of the ring to determine the ring size of the tip, this is in mm. To add the new tip, you can either use expoxy or get the tip adhesive to glue the tip on. easiest way to remove the tip top is to tie the ring to something solid, and pull the rod away from the tip top, while applying heat from a lighter or alcohol lamp. George Forster Fort Collins, CO Re: Replacing end ring ?
