Madeira test

Hi Guys,
Finished the test on Madeira thread with no cp and a few pieces of thread in the finish. No fish eyes in the finish but there is a distinct colour change from the ones with cp. I uploaded a photo in the guide wrap section, appologies as I don't know how to link it to here. The white with no cp is missing when I resized it but it was the most translucent of them all. Sorry about the test blank as it was a ribbed one and I would have got a more uniform colour if I had used a smooth piece. Looks like I'll still be using three coats of cp on my wraps to keep the colour the same as on the spool. Next weekend I'll try and pull the guides out when the epoxy has fully hardened.

Col.
Thanks for the pics and the test. I'm color blind. I use quite a bit of Madeira for bass rods but have never done a test without CP. I acutally thought you would see a little more change in shade with the CP.

Hi Mark,
There is quite a bit of difference. Without the cp the blank colour is showing through despite the amount of packing I did. Those with the cp are pretty much the same colour as the spool taking into account the ribbed blank that I used.

Found the original post on the next page. Adding thread to the epoxy usually works with no CP on Madeira, but some epoxies react differently.
