rod blank for plunking ???

hi guys i want to build a plunking rod for salmon..from the bank...two piece ..probly be able to throw 10 oz .not to sure on the length ...i allready have an old lamiglass that i built 25 yrs ago its 12 ft long works great but it just seems really big. like a sturgeon rod.i figure with a non glass blank it would be a little smaller and have a normal size reelseat...any sugestions??? Get with Todd Vivian at Mudhole for a guy who knows that kind of fishing and probably has the largest variety of blanks for you to choice from. Re: rod blank for plunking ???

I'll suggest a Talon Blank# B174 11ft 2 pc the catalog rating is 8-16oz but true rating would be 6-12oz. Really an awsome bait blank that loads well and isn't super heavy. Re: rod blank for plunking ???

Mike,
I would recommend the SA1086F for that. We even list Plunking in the application chart for that model. Now 10 oz. is a lot of weight so you would be lobbing it with that blank. If you really want to sling 10 oz. you will need to look at a surf blank, in the surf area we have the LSBT1202M which is a composite blank and would handle those weights a little better.
