I am looking for suggestions on blanks. I've searched and searched and have found only the St. Croix Avid in this length and weight.
Thanks in advance. Re: 6'-6" 4wt

Talon lists a few 6'6" in 3wt and a few 7' in 4wt in the catalog but if you call them they can make you nearly anything you want in any series you want. The ammount of Mandrals they have is unreal. Re: 6'-6" 4wt

I'd like to find something in a matte black or charcoal finish. Has anyone ever trimmed a 7' fly blank down 6" from the butt? If so, did it affect the weight rating any? I imagine it would. Re: 6'-6" 4wt

Hi Josh
Its not matte black but Mudhole has an Orvis trout bum blank in 6'6" 4wt. 3piece this blank is phenomanal I built one for a customer that likes Sage and other high dollar rods he just loves ths trout bum and you'll get more distance than you might think. But the blank is green. Mike Mikes Custom Fly Rods Re: 6'-6" 4wt

Does it have to be multi-piece and sold as a fly blank? If not, the whole world is your oyster. There are LOTS of blanks that would fit the criteria AND be very inexpensive to purchase. Just a thought. Re: 6'-6" 4wt

Rainshadow has the RX7 - IF704 in matte grey = 7' 4wt 2pc>> i wouldn't hesitate to cut 6" off the butt>> i am sure it will change the dynamics a bit but at that weight and length it would be much.
