I have found out how hot the clear cast resin mixture is and it is HOT. I have tried to cover designs with epoxy to protect them and the clear cast eats right through the epoxy.
I want to build a reel seat with shark teeth and a matching fore grip. Is there an adhesive that will resist the clear cast resin? Also, where would ya'll suggest as a source for a small amount of powder coat painting until I decide to purchase the gun. Thanks - Rick Re: Clear Casting

Joe Emig did articles for us on both these subjects and covered the heat thing with the acrylic resin and the powder coating gun and supplies. If you'll do a search in the RodMaker index in the online library index you can turn up the volume and issue numbers.

are you using a polyester resin or epoxy resin? the polyester resin does create some heat, but is much clearer.what are you trying to encapsulate? If what you are trying to encapsulate is cured you should not have any issues. Also make sure it is sealed, if not the resin will impregnate and create bubbles that can cause issues. If you are going to apply something underneath that needs to be glued, then use a ca glue. You do need to let it sit to allow the ca to cure and all the outgasses to expel before casting. read joe emig's articles. it spells out how to do it.
