I am in the planning process of a med/light spinning rod for panfish and small bass that is john deere themed. I was thinking of putting it on a matrix green blank (leaning towards a AMP843 blank, but any better suggestions is welcomed). Wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what color thread would best match the green in the matrix blanks. Also, any other ideas towards the deere theme (or pics of past rods) is greatly appreciated.... Take'er Eazy Andy Doc Re: John Deere Themed Rod on a Matrix Blank

Andy,
I did a John Deere rod a while back. I used Gudebrod NCP 6779 (Med. Green) and NCP 6778 (Lemon Yellow). It came out really nice. I don't have pictures, wish I did. Take a look, my customer thought it was excellent. Mike Doran MD Custom Rods Spring, Texas Re: John Deere Themed Rod on a Matrix Blank

I use green winding checks and trim rings against black or smoke reel seats. They look nice. Mudhole has the green trim rings and for the rear of the reel seat between it and the rear grip for casting rods as well as spinning. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: John Deere Themed Rod on a Matrix Blank

do some test winding and finishing on a dark blank with the yellow you plan to use to be sure it comes out the way you want. Yellow can be really tough. i think any forest green without CP will pretty well match the blank, which has a lot of black in it. Or use CP to get brighter windings.
