Hi, I have question about using REC Recoil RSFX Light single foot fly rod guides on a spinning or bait casting set up. I know that in most cases we would want to keep the fishing line as close to the blank as possible but how close is too close. These guides seat considerably lower on the blank than their RSPG and they weight much less too but I am not sure if the the weight savings outweight the negatives like line slap. Have any of you guys used these guides before. Any Pros and Cons.
Thanks, Pedro Re: REC Recoil Guides

This is something you may just have to try. There are pros and cons. Higher means the line doesn't contact the blank while the blank is flexed and line is being stripped under pressure by a fish. But it also creates higher moment arms and therefore results in greater tendency to try and turn or twist the blank.
Lower reduces that tendency, but means that unless you use a lot more guides you're going to line rub on the outfeed under pressure. The best possible scenario might be to use them, but execute a spiral wrap. Then it won't matter. ................ Re: REC Recoil Guides
