I have never done a tiger wrap, but I'm about to attempt my first on a University of KY themed rod. I'd like to get a blue effect. I've ran some searches and looked at pictures on this site and others. I was thinking a black and silver metallic base with the blue as my top thread after sacrificing. Other thoughts are black and white base with blue on top, or black and blue base with blue on top. I'm looking for suggestions as to what will "pop" better. I'll probably add 3 coats of pro kote over the base before doing the top to enhance the effect.
thanks, jwr Re: Tiger Wrap Suggestions - Wanting a Blue look

Black and white base and any blue of your choice on top.

my last one was nylon blue and silver metallic base and nylon blue top and it turned out really good. Re: Tiger Wrap Suggestions - Wanting a Blue look

Try doing all 3 as short test wraps and pick the one that suits you best. Re: Tiger Wrap Suggestions - Wanting a Blue look

I've done one and only tiger wrap. I'm posting because it was exactly as you described, black and silver base, blue overwrap, 3 coats epoxy in between. I'm not real keen on it. I think the reason is the silver. Its just a bit too sparkly for me. Strangely, it looks great on overcast days though. If I were doing it again I would probably do it with Tom's suggested black and white base.
