threadless guide adhesion

Anyone ever "tack" guides in place with super glue or something else then cover with flexcoat or whatever? I think it might look kinda cool and at worst I end up wrapping guides if it doesn't hold up...
Any insight welcome and appreciated.

Do a search for a threadless wrap. Been covered before.

Just make sure not to use too much tension on the silk thread...

Epoxy thread finish alone won't hold the guides on very well. For that you'd need to follow the article in the Volume 8 #6 issue of RodMaker detailing "Threadless Guide Wraps." A urethane is the proper product for that.

It is pretty tough to beat the ease of use and reliablity of product when you use thread to hold the guides on the rod.

On tacking guides down with super glue. A faster way is to heat one guide foot gently and wipe over hot melt glue stick, then attach foot. After binding you can break seal easily if you need to do any adjustment.

I use Hot Glue too, for wrapping Micro's it's indispensable for me.

I just ordered the back issue of rodmaker...that will likely be easier than trying to figure it out by trial and error...
