Help! Bought many blanks at last 2 shows, however I am having a hard time identifying a blank I bought at show in 2010. Blank is 6'6" light action, deep blue , white lable with hand written #G-P8B. Would love to get a blank of this color and action. Do you guys know where this came from? John

I thought it was from Swampland. I called them and he said # was not one of his. He said mayby Fishstiks, but they dont seem to match. I also checked with Mudhole. I paid cash, only resouce I have is hand written lable with # I spoke of.

The blue color sounds like it might be a Forecast but the label would have been F.... something.

You can use this as a teaching moment: start blind (i.e. not knowing anything about the blank) and, through wiggling, testing, casting, and otherwise screwing around with this blank, figure out its tendencies, and then use that information to determine what kind of rod the blank was meant to be.

Anyone can copy information from a blank catalog, but learning to "read" blank performance by yourself is an advanced rodbuilding skill that is worth trying to learn. You can drive yourself crazy trying to dig up information on this blank, or you can use it as an opportunity to advance your skills. If you learn to "read" blanks this way, you'll be ahead of many or perhaps even most of the guys building custom rods out there, and you'll view a mystery blank not as a problem, but as a chance to learn something new.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I missed the last part of your post, that you wanted information on the blank not to figure out how to use it, but where to get another. I'll leave up my original post, which is above, but I'll nevertheless give myself a dope slap for missing the main point of your original post.
