Please excuse my lack of rod building experience!
I'm looking for a blank recommendation for an ultralight spinning rod for small stream trout fishing, lightest most sensitive possible. I have been building several bass rods, all high modulus casting rods. Can I build a spinning rod on a casting blank? Thanks in advance for any help! Re: Blank questions...

Yes, a blank is a blank is a blank. It will have no idea what type reel you hang on it.

A 2 wt. fly blank works great for crappie I have 2 and love them. They came 6 1/2 ft and extended them to 7 1/2 ft.

I just finished a 2wt fly rod blank that i built into a spinning ultra light, it is a blast! I just caught a 2lb bass on it when fishing for blue gills Monday. Just a thought. Re: Blank questions...

Something along the lines of the MHX S841 or the new S842 would do you a great job. Re: Blank questions...

The recommendations for an ultra light spin made from fly blanks are right on for a great ultra light. Since you are looking for a small stream rod, you might want to limit the length, maybe to 7 feet.
AMF662 6'6" 2 wt. 2 pc. MOD 3.5 0.269 0.8 AMF704 7' 4 wt. 2 pc. MOD 4 0.275 1.1 AMF763 7'6" 3 wt. 2 pc. MOD 3.5 0.331 1.1 I used the 763 for a great rod, could easily be shortened. Not sure if it would end up being a lot like the 704 or not, but I expect it would make a very nice spinning rod. My 763 casts 1/8 wt. lures very well, never had any trouble with hook sets, very sensitive even though a fairly slow action. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
