Castaway 964

I am thinking about cutting down a castaway 964 to 7'3". Has anyone done this, and if so, how did it affect the rod? I'm looking to make a rattletrap/medium crank rod.
Thanks for the help.

Jeremy; I just cut down 2 of the 964's to 7' . They make excellent rattletrap and med crankin rods. I built 2 of them exactly alike for a tournament fisherman. I really hated to cut an 8' ft blank down to 7' but that was what the guy wanted and I think now he made an excellent choice from the report I got.

I also wrapped them with micro's on top. A #6 DF, #5 SF and running 4's.

I will be doing the same on a blank here shortly, not cutting as much off, but 6". I was told by both Lance and Bill at Swampland, they have been cutting them without seeing any problems at all.
