hey guys,
recently bought two blanks from Dan Craft which I´m gonna assemble soon. They are the Sig V 8'6" 3wt, 4pc, medium fast and the Sig V 9'6" 6wt, 4pc, medium fast. Was wondering if anyone has recommendations about guide spacing and sizing. Been trying to find some online but not managed to locate any. Any help appreciated :-) Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

Here's how to do it:
[www.rodbuilding.org] You can also contact Dan. He was always good about supplying spacings for his blanks. ................ Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

If you call Dan he will give the spacing for your particular blank including where the ferrels are located. I got the spacing from him on my two Sig Vs (5wt & 3 wt) and they were dead on with no reason to change. Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

thank you for your input. I managed to get my hands on guide spacings for those particular blanks from DC. Will start with them and then work my way from there.
I´v been thinking about using Snake Brand snake guides for the rods. They are a bit on the expensive side but I´v heard them getting great reviews. Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

Single foot guides will work fine on those rods. Bill - willierods.com Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

Any particular reason why I should go with single foot guides? what are their advantages to the snake guides? I dont have a whole lot of experience with rod building but from what I´v seen using snake guides makes the line flow more easily and nicer through the guides. Also with single foot guides I sometime hear an annoying "whoosh" sound. What are your thoughts? Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

Less thread less finish less weight I like them myself. I had a few St Croix's with them on and they casted very well. A 5 wt and 7 wt SCIV 2 piece
People also say here that the Minima's are good for fly rods Have not tried them but they have a nice price to them Acid Rod also has some English single foot wire guides Seymo that have a step up to them to keep the line off the blank [] Middle of the page Bill - willierods.com Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

I use single foot guides on a number of Dan Craft blanks, including the very stiff FT and they are casting machines. Re: Guide Spacing for Dan Craft blanks

Single foot guides of course have 1/2 the number of wraps, thus less wieght, especially important as you get closer to the tip. And also of course, 1/2 the wraps is less work! I build only fly rods and I use single foot ( wire on the lighter and ring on the heavier)on all of them, even up to 12 wt's. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/24/2011 10:21PM by Phil Erickson. I love my Recoil single foot guides on my Dan Craft Sig V 5wt...you'll just need to figure out how to do a forhan wrap to lock it down. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
