I wanted to see if anyone else had this experience. I think I have piling on so much CP it dries bumpy and looks like sugary cake icing. When over coated with epoxy, you can see light reflecting off of the little points of dried CP. It keeps going through my head --- like the first George Bush said and much parodied on SNL by Dana Carvey - "thousand points of light"
I thought this "disco effect" was created by the Madeira thread, but I looked at two other rods where I used that thread and no such issues. Thanks, Tony Re: Thousand Points of Light

do you need to wear a gold chain and have the BeeGees on the stereo while doing this wrap? Re: Thousand Points of Light

Did you sand the epoxy on your guide wraps? I have seen this cause the effect you describe. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: Thousand Points of Light

JP - I am such a white boy it is not funny, but I do have some moves. Hey Now!
Bill\Russ - I am sorry you had to endure this response, but to answer your questions... I am using ChromaSeal and I do not sand. I was tempted once because of this same problem [I think it is anyway] of too much CP and the results were horrible. I should also mention the thread is purple which I thought "showed" more. I have a dark green and bright red with just as much disco shimmer on some other rods and they did not have this disco reflection issue. Re: Thousand Points of Light

Bill, you had a bad reaction but you love the finish?
I am assuming there is no issue with Chromaseal on Madeira. The ferrule wraps look fine. This supports my hypothesis because you don't need a lot of CP there, as there are no open spaces to soak in to. Tony Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
