Is there a rule of thumb for the length of wrap on the female end of a tip over but, multi-piece rods?
I know I read it somewhere but can't locate it now. As I remember it was 2.5 times the diameter. Is this correct? Re: Wrapping Ferrules

There was an article in Rodmaker about that. Some manufacturers don't even require it. I wrap mine 2 - 2.5 times the I.D. as tight as I can and close to the edge. I like them to be short as possible. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: Wrapping Ferrules

I also try to do mine at 2 1/2 to 3 times the diameter. Re: Wrapping Ferrules

Mike,
Just for consistency, I generally use 3/8th to 1/2 inch wraps. No reason, other than I like the look. I suspect that if a person has 5-10 wraps on the end of a rod, that that is likely plenty strong to prevent the end from splitting. Take care Roger Re: Wrapping Ferrules

Totally depends on the blank / manufacturer.
i.e. CTS - no wrap needed. Gatti - 15 mm minimum. Better consult with the manufacturer. Herb Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
