Alvey Side Cast Reels

need some suggestions for a 15 foot 2 piece blank to go with this Alvey side cast reel The reel is 3 lbs in weight. so a light blank will be nice ??? But strong ??

Bill, what kind of fishing are you looking to do? What Alvey reel is it? I want to say that it's probably the 650c5, as that's the reel that weighs closest to 3 lbs., but you didn't say for sure.

I ask because I've built a bunch of Alvey rods, and have found that a lot of the stuff that Alvey recommends is not necessarily so. Take length, for example: I'm assuming that you're looking for a 15-foot rod because the specs of your Alvey reel suggest/mandate a rod that long. You do NOT need to feel tied to this -- I've built Alvey rods on blanks as short as nine feet.

Post more details about what you're looking to do, and I'll try to help. I think I'm one of the only Alvey weirdos who post on this board.
