A good Buddy of mine dropped by yesterday, we were sitting in my Rod Shop when he asked me "How many Custom Rod Builders are there in Canada and the United States?? "....Guess what??...i couldn't answer him....anyone care to chime in, with an approximate number...just curious. Cheers Fellas!!!!...Wayne

There are so few that really use this board. Tom has said before the majority of builders do not do things with message boards or online stuff.

There are just over 7000 registered users on this forum. About half are current and have logged in within the past 6 months. RodMaker Magazine has just over 15,000 subscribers. IN all, about 300,000 people will build a custom rod this year. The number who actually sell rods is far, far less, however.

The numbers of rod builders active on the internet rod building forums is perhaps only a single digit percentage of all those who build rods. You couldn't keep all these manufacturers and dealers going with just the rod building internet folks.

I could not agree more about who is active on the internet
Out of all my fishing buddies, maybe 2% of them participate by posting on message boards
However, about half of them are lurkers
I feel that age has a lot to do with it

My guess is also that age has a lot to do with it. Im betting the percentage of internet users will climb as time goes on. Most of my "older" fishing friends barely dabble on the net. My "younger" friends and myself on the other hand live on the stupid net. LOL Every rod builder i have met (not a lot of them granted) has been much older than me and im 36
