Tim,
How are you going to fish with this rod. I ask the question, because you can use radically different rods, depending on your style. If you use a spinning rod with no float, you can go to a very light rod, and have a good time. If you go with a heavy bobber for distance casting - like a rocket bobber, then it makes sense to go with a longer heavier action rod to handle the weight of the bobber and to maximize your casting distance. If I was fishing close to the boat, I would go with a 4-5 foot light action rod, with everything as light as possible. Possibly a simple Tennessee split handle to minimize weight and trouble. If I was going with a heavier bobber and wanted distance, and need the rod for the distance with the heavier bobber, I would go with a 7 1/2 foot hot shot rod. This is actually my favorite way to fish sunnies. The much longer rod with its heavier action maximizes casting distance, and the bobber gives the sensitivity needed for sun fishing. Use the handle style of your choice on this rod. Take care Roger Re: Sunfish blank spinning

My vote would be an IP840 with a 10" Tennessee handle.

My vote would also be an IP840. The Rainshadow from Batson Enterprises is a great little Bream blank. It doesn't matter if you are fishing from a boat or the bank. And fitted with a Tennessee handle,,,can't beat it. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Sunfish blank spinning

I would think something along the lines of the MHX S841 would be a good one, fitted with a Tenn. handle would a sunfishing dream. Re: Sunfish blank spinning

I really like the IP840 with a split Tennessee handle. It makes for a nice panfish rod. For a little shorter rod, the Mudhole CRB IS561L makes for a nice little rod. For guides, I like the Alps XY guides for reduction guides, and Batson micros for the runners, 3mm runners (if you aren't passing knots or bobber stops), 5mm runners if you need to pass knots or bobber stops.
