Hi all,
looking at building my first fly rod (cheap 7'6 or 8'0 4 / 5wt 4piece) for myself but I have no idea what guides sizes I should looking at purchasing. Im thinking of using either snake or single foot guides but have not decided which way I will go. Any help is appreciate so I can order some guides with the blank. Cheers Bill Re: fly rod guide and reel seat size

Bill,, If this is your first build I would suggest buying a Kit from Mudhole. It will come with everything you need to make your first build. Re: fly rod guide and reel seat size

Just go on to Batson site under the tech side, go to recipies for a 805-4 and it will give you a rough idea of sizes and components to use Ron Weber Re: fly rod guide and reel seat size

Snake guides would be easier to work with for your first build. Having two feet locked down, either by small rubber bands or tape, makes one less thing to worry about. Single foot guides can move around if not perfectly prepped. Walt Natzke Ripon, CA Re: fly rod guide and reel seat size
