Epoxy needed???

Is there an actual need to apply epoxy in front of the foregrip. I ask this question because I see many people with split grips sticking the factory label or writing the rod specs in between the split grips for better balance but this same people are still applying epoxy in front of the foregrip which let me to believe this transition area between the grips/seat and the blank is prone to failure and the epoxy strengthens it. Is this correct and if that's the case then how many coats do you need and how long should this epoxy section be. Thanks

Pedro,
If there is no thread or decals in front of the foregrip there is no need to apply epoxy. Any strengthening in this area by epoxy would be marginal at best.

It is just a looks thing. The finish will not add strength to it.

The "epoxy" you are talking about is not used for strength. What we use to cover decals and other information is thread finish. It has nothing to do with strengthening the rod , just protecting the decals and information.

What you are seeing is where guys are making a nice transition form the reel seat to the blank, givining it a more finished look. It has nothing to do with adding any strength in the area.

Just make sure you seal the front of the foregrip so water cannot get under the foregrip.
