Blank Recommendation

Looking for a blank to throw gotcha plugs. Be fishing from pier for spanish so i will need one with some backbone and light action. Lure weight is 7/8 to 1oz. 10# mono or 4# braid with 18in leader. I have a IP843, but i don't believe it has enough backbone for lifting fish over railings.

Thanks,
Roger

MHX CB845 or 847 or MB844 depending on whether or not you prefer a moderate fast or fast action. They'll have plenty of back bone to do what you're after.

I wouldn't DREAM of using a graphite blank to lift fish over a railing. Take a look at the Lamiglas Skeet Reese blank ... MB84-1E. It is a light composite that WILL allow you to do things such as you mentioned, in fact it will do a great job of it. I can take one of these blanks and bend it in almost a full loop, it is tough and then some.

if you need a little more backbone the seeker bc706s fishes similar to the mb84-1e. i use both for pretty much the same applications, just find the seeker to be a bit more powerful. i really like both blanks.

-Justin

How big are your spanish mackeral? We used to catch fish near the ten pound mark years ago. Someplaces average fish are a pound or two. Makes a big difference.
