Building on a Super Seeker for a stand up tuna rod. User will be using a blue Avet Raptor reel. Reel seat is black Alps--couldn't get a perfect match in blue. So, here's the question: The blank is dark red, sort of burgundy/root beer, great color. To my eye, blue thread is not a great match for that blank, but maybe that's just my eye. Any ideas for a colors for the decorative wrap and guides that will accentuate the intended blue reel, but will still go nicely with the color of the blank?
Any help appreciated, as always. Chuck Horan Re: Color help needed for Super Seeker

I just built one of these and had a heck of a time with the colors. Cut off two dec wraps and 4 guide wraps. I am not a fan of brown to begin with. Ended up with brown abalone on the butt wrap and a simple diamond over it. Blue surprisingly goes good with brown. There are some surfware companies that use it as a standard. However it is a light blue . That blank is the same color as a beer bottle. Go to the local beer store and check out the brown bottles and find the one with the blue label and match it if it looks good, Dog Fish Head indian Brown Ale has a nice color combo. I've used Blue, Purple, Green, REd, Brown and Yellow/oranges on the Super Seeker REddish brown blanks. They all looked fine. Blue & Silver under black over guide wraps. Just use a lot of thread to hide the color of the blank, lol. Blue Moon has a label that matches what Fred is talking about Re: Color help needed for Super Seeker

Just finished a 706 in Brown with Green and Gold Trims and used black reel seat trim - no fore grip, split grip, black EVA
Turned out great. Cheers Re: Color help needed for Super Seeker

I wrapped quite a few Super Seekers with the tangerine finish. Like Billy I have used many colors, yes even blue which looked very good. I just finished wrapping one a few minutes ago with ProWrap 407 cool mint, Prowrap black, Bullard mettalic green pearl, and Gudebrod mettalic silver. Re: Color help needed for Super Seeker

I borrowed one of Billy's rods for a while and the color combo looked nice. i think it was maroon, gold, and metallic maroon. if not maroon, then whatever dark reddish thread you have. turned out very nice wth underwraps. Re: Color help needed for Super Seeker
