Can some one explain what the "quick lock" reel seat is? Or how, in this picture I borrowed from the gallery, the threads for the locking nut/hood don't show. I find without a foregrip my index finger rests on the threads (I palm my reels) and is uncomfortable. Also it is a much cleaner look. Thanks, Ron Re: Quick lock reel seats

Ron -
I've used the quick lock type reel seat. I can't get them tight enough to hold my reel. I use either the Fuji ecs or the Pac Bay minima. I put the reel I plan to use in the reel seat and cut the threads of the locking hood. When the threaded hood is glued up and the reel is attached and tightened, I don't have threads showing - just the winding check. Hope this helps a little.
