Epoxy to first use...how long?

Hi All,
Another amateur question for the board. Just put the finishing coat on a boat rod. Unfortunately, I don't really like how the butt wrap and lower guide turned out. The kicker is that I have a trip coming up in 15 days that I'm planning on using the rod on. I'll be stripping the wrap off at some point, either before or after the trip. So, my question to you all is - how long does epoxy need to sit before using the rod? With stripping, re-wrapping and epoxy it will probably take three days for me to finish it. Is twelve days long enough, or should I wait until after the trip? Thanks, Matt Re: Epoxy to first use...how long?

Absolutely. I've used rods the morning after putting epoxy on. Most will say 2-3 days curing before use. Re: Epoxy to first use...how long?

Matt,
Go ahead, strip off the wraps, rewrap and recoat this afternnon, and you will have 14 days to dry. This should be about a 20 minute job. But Tommy is right - generally 48 to 72 hours is ample time to have a finish cure. Good luck Roger Re: Epoxy to first use...how long?

Plenty of time with any of the coatings I have worked with. Tight wraps and lines, Wylie Re: Epoxy to first use...how long?

Thanks all,
Already stripped the offending wraps off, wrapped up the guide, and starting on the butt wrap. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
