Double footed Micro's?

Sure would like to see someone start making some double footed micro size casting guides. I think they'd be well received by builders who make rods where use dictates a little stronger guide versus a single foot fly. I build a musky rod or two here and there, the single foot's really take a beating, being bent back and forth. Same thing for night fishing applications for species like Striped Bass where fishing in total darkness lends itself to bent fly guides. How about it? Something like DF 3mm's would do just fine.

Heavy duty single ft micro's are available from Fuji. Model no. BLDBAG4.0. They also offer a double foot stripper model no BLCAG5 and 5.5. These are guides I keep in stock.

Just a suggestion but perhaps recoil micro guides will solve your problem. They wont bend at night (day either)and are light as a feather. The negative is price though.

More than one style of double foot from Fuji -

Difference in slope of bracing from frame to ring attachment -

Long and high curve above

The BKWAG(xx)J is used on many factory micro rods for "long throw" heavy power rods.

I am using them for butt guides on Swim Bait, Texas Rig and Carolina Rigs.

They are matched up with the BKTAG Single foot in various sizes.

Looking at those guides you should be able to do a Forhan wrap on them

Bill Boettcher - you shot past my level of understanding with your post -

Please explain -

Is there a single foot micro guide that prohibits the use of the Forhan wrap?

Which one?

Do you build micro rods without doing Forhan wraps on single foot guides?

Which micro guides do you use without locking and/or security wraps?

FYI, Fuji KT single foot guides have a unique design feature called an "epoxy port". It's our understanding that Fuji designers actually worked to make sure the tiny open area in the frame under the ring was "epoxy friendly" and would help epoxy flow through the opening and create a tiny support (almost like a second foot) on the front (tip) side of the guide. Builders who take advantage of this feature by making sure the epoxy flows thru the opening will see a stronger finished wrap. I have posted a drawing of what the epoxy looks like when the port is used properly. Search "Anglers Resource Support" in the photo forum. Obviously, the addition of a Forhan wrap along with proper use of the epoxy port will provide the ultimate micro wrap. Hope this helps.

Jim:

All manufacturers have done a heck of a job getting new and improved guides to the micro market.

Thank Fuji for responding to requests for frame design changes to increase pull out resistance - foot, neck, tunnel, port, and angle of repose

The K series provide many improvement to the first 3.5 mm LSGs used -

If old Ks are used for "recycling" be sure to melt out existing epoxy from the port" with a preheated steel dental explorer taking care not to overheat the ring adhesive.
