I've had a request to build a 7', Medium/Light/Fast spinning rod. Has anyone used the SJ842-MHX (Mudhole) blank and if so, you or your customers opinion? The end user will be using it for light jigs in deep (30'+) water.
Also, many thanks to Denny Kaneoka from Seeker - He was exceptionally kind and generous to my Grandson and me at the ICRBE! I look forward to taking him fishing the next time he comes to Tennessee! Thank You Re: SJ842-MHX

I have used that particular blank on 3-4 builds. One was for myself. It is a great blank. Everyone I have built them for have had nothing but incredibly positive comments. And personally, I use that rod more than any other spinning rod I own. Re: SJ842-MHX

Good to know !
I just ordered one for a build here for my uncle for his birthday . It will be a a spinning rod build for trout mostly. I ordered the slate color and just put a nice finish coat of PG on the blank ...it came out very very nice and clean. The blank its self looked very clean. I will let you know how the costumer likes it after he puts it to use! Doing the cork and real seat application probably tomorrow! Darned guides got back ordered again ! .....Man that's beginning to be a problem of late! Anyways will post some pics after its all done for you to look at ! As Chuck said ....its got good power and the tip is were the action is on this blank ...pretty much the same here for this one as well! Sorry for the Typo cant get away with those here I am afraid , I had a bottle of this stuff sitting next to me as I typed it LOL guess I just transposed it to my letter ! Also I like the slate finish just for this purpose because I Color my PG for a translucent effect which matches the color scheme of my build . Sorry for the confusion there . Guess I should proofread on this site thanks for the heads up ! Rick H. rwheil@msn.com Website [www.facebook.com] [home.comcast.net] Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/14/2011 06:14PM by Rick Heil. The matt finished blank have a finish on them. You don't need to put anything on it. If you want it glossy, I would suggest PermaGloss. Maybe I misunderstood. If so, sorry. If you coated with CP before wrapping your guides you will have problems with your wrap finish lifting. Chuck _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming.
