Oil/Urethane finishes like Waterlox and Benmatte have a tendency to kick off once opened due to oxidation. I try to fend off hardening in the can by keeping the air space to a very minimum by inserting marbles into the can. Has anyone tried protecting these products in the same manner that Permagloss is protected from moisture intrusion, by piercing the can near the bottom to withdraw liquid and then inserting an eye screw to reseal?
Thanks, Jeff Re: Storing Oil/Urethane Finishes

I have always used the marbles or nuts in my tru-oil. It seems to me if you let the finish drain out a hole, air would replace the volume you removed from the container. I have heard of using Bloxygen. It is a heavier than air to spray into the finish that will displace the air & thus prevent the oxidation. Re: Storing Oil/Urethane Finishes

The PermaGloss can trick works like all get out. It should work equally well on the products you mention, although I haven't tried it with those.
