This question is somewhat related to Grant Gisondo's recent post on long rods for beach use. I would appreciate any comments on building one of the MHX salmon/steelhead blanks as a switch rod. In particular, the ST1262-MHX which 10'6" in length looks like it might make a good switch rod. I also considered the ST1335-MHX which is 11'3", but the 6.0 tip gives me some concern. My main application is fishing the SoCal beaches. Also, I am looking for an excuse for a first build on an MHX blank. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. Ray Re: MHX blanks

Ray,
No reason that these should not work just fine. The MHX blanks - if the right one for the application - are wonderful blanks. Roger Re: MHX blanks

I second Roger's advice.
They most certainly should work and for the cost of the blank, why not give them a chance, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Re: MHX blanks

Hi Ray,
How did the MHX build as a switch rod? And what weight fly line was a good match? Thank you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
