Hi,
Had a chap ask if I can fix the reel seat on his enigma rod as it loose when he tightens up the reel lock ring, (think it's the glue that has broken down. As I've not done one of these rods before, my question is can I just remove the fighting butt and pull the reel seat straight off, or does it have to be cut off due to the taper of the blank? Thanks for any help. Philip. Re: Enigma reel seat repair

Hi Phil,
You should be able to do just as you said and just twist off the reel seat once the fighting butt is removed. I'm not too sure about the later models of the Enigma rods, but the originals that were built in the UK circa 97-98 had Struble reel seats with a carbon cloth barrel-I built them for Tight Lines in Ammanford. I hope its not one of these. The later models were made in Korea. I still have and fish with my origional Enigmas, though I broke one on a GT expedition off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia last year. Let me know how you get on with the job. Hi Earl,
Hope you're well mate. I'll try to find out how old the rod is. I was worried it might have a skeleton insert which would have meant I would have to take the grip off and start again. Cheers, Phil. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
