I have been looking for some technical information on the the minima guides. I have gotten mostly the adverstisements. I am wondering how well they are made. My understanding is that they are completely stainless steel and the ring is press fitted into the frame ring. Remember the old guides that were all stainless steel and tended to form a groove? Is this going to be a problem with these long term? I am assuming that Pac Bay has tested these. If so, I have not found any reference to such testing, and it may not be available as it would be proprietary. Just looking for more information. From the comments here, seems they are popular. I bought a set, and they certainly look good and are light enough. Clinton Re: Minima Technicals

I had the same reservations. I spoke to some of my good customers that had them on Fenwick rods for probably 8 years or more and they loved them - no issues.
Spoke to Vic Cutter at Pac Bay, and he said they have had no issues with grooving, and these have been on a lot of Pure Fishing rods for a lot of years now. I'd say you are good to go! Marc Re: Minima Technicals

They are my guide of choice. No issues with mono or braid. Very light weight and sturdy and stand up well to all the usual abuse rods take in the course of a summer of fishing Re: Minima Technicals

When it comes to guides, everyone seems to be concerned about guide wear.
But what about line wear? Re: Minima Technicals

Line is easy to replace, but if you mean does it wear the line more quickly than ceramics, then yes, it probably does but I've yet to see any unusual wear or anything I thought was out of the ordinary.

What is the ring material? Is it also stainless? Re: Minima Technicals

Hi Tom:
So, back to the issue of grooving or otherwise wearing out the SS insert, have you seen any of that as yet? Also, about how long have these been out and if they have been out for but a short while, have they been out long enough to show any wear issues? Clinton PS Great Expo...thanks. Re: Minima Technicals

They've only been out for a couple of years and I'm not able to fish enough in that time frame to really be able to say that these will never groove or wear. But so far, so good.

Which series would you advise for a salt water spinning rod? The actual part/model number would be nice. I'd like to give them a try too! Russ in Hollywood, FL. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
