I am putting together a quote for a guy that wants an MHX blank with micro guides and the problem I am running into is that I cannot seem to find a tip top that is size 7.5 with an insert smaller than 6. I am planning on using sz 4 micro guides. Does anyone know of who might make a 7.5 tube with a 4 or 5 insert?
Thanks! Re: Looking For A Tip Top

What color you want? Swampland will have them at the Expo. ----------------- AD Re: Looking For A Tip Top

Ideally black hard chrome with a black insert either SiC or Nanolite. Something tough. This is going on a flipping rod that will get some abuse. The guides that we are most likey going to go with are the Amtak ring lock NBRLMG. Re: Looking For A Tip Top

I'll have to get ahold of him. It's a shame I wont be able to make it to the show. Re: Looking For A Tip Top

Garry,
Mono or braid on the rod? Conventional or spiral wrapped? True flipping, or flipping and pitching rod? If the build involves more than 12lb. mono, which is surely the case, I would strongly consider the 6mm ring for the tip. With a spiral wrap, as the line makes the turn when it exits the tip, it pushes the line up between the tip and first guide. There can be enough friction here, at times, to stop the line when pitching causing some frustration. With an all on top build, you might be able to get by with a 4mm or 5mm tip, as the line pushes up and away from the blank as it makes the turn. Keep a 6mm ring top on hand just in case you need it. With braid, you shouldn't run into these problems. Joe Re: Looking For A Tip Top

It will be conventional and he'll be running 17-20# mono. Flipping rod. Re: Looking For A Tip Top

I agree with Joe,
I would also go with a size 6 tip. Just lots fewer issues, if you use a bit bigger tip with most lines and terminal tackle. Good luck REW Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
