Eerlier I spoke of a new water based finish that could make epoxy obsolete. I haven't had as much time to fool with it as I'd like - to much to do in order to get ready for the Expo. However, I can tell you that compared to something like Permagloss, this new product does actually provide a look that is very similar to epoxy. What I haven't been able to do thus far, is get that same epoxy look with just 2 coats. It's taking me at least 4, which in my estimation, could prevent it from taking off the way the maker expects.
However, I'm told that I'm not applying it correctly and that the specific technique needed to get what you need in 2 coats will be unveiled at the Expo. We'll see. ................. Re: New Finish

Yes, if I can lay my hands on some (and instruction on use) I will test it immediately Saturday morning - or I will hand over something for the manufacturer to work on. Personally if it is 4 coats with reasonable drying time I'm still likely to move to it. I like the idea of "no mix" as well as "water clean up" Re: New Finish

Ken,
I agree with you. I also like the idea of no mixing and water clean up. If the drying time is relatively short, half an hour or less then four coats does not bother me. But if the drying time gets much longer than that then I am much less likely to switch. For me to switch it will also have to be as durable as epoxy. Re: New Finish

I am thinking of various water soluble dyes so i can try what will work with this for marbling, hoping i can get some to try.
I guess something like Testors would not work well. water based fabric dyes, poster paint coloring, titanium dioxide, carbon black......... Even if i cannot use it for marbling, just not having two parts means no bubbles plus no fumes would be a great leap forward. Re: New Finish
