i was wondering how this rod would perform as a spinning rod ...has anyone played with theses rods.
i might be aquiring two of these rods that are built as casting. i want to convert one of them to use a spinning reel Sante Morrone the fisherman Re: Lamiglass G1308-T

Lamiglas makes that rod/blank in a factory spinning rod G 1314. Kenai Special spinning. My favorite salmon blank. You'd have a bit of work cleaning up the blank, removing guides, changing the reelseat, installing a new foregrip and repositioning the guides for the spinning configuration. The guide spacing chart on the Lamiglas blank site will show you where the factory positioned guide for both configurations.
Frankly I wouldn't do it unless I was getting a world class deal on the rods as there's a lot of work, and the casting rod configuration has a two inch or so longer rear grip than I like on a spinning rod. The way you hold a spinning rod makes the rear grip a bit longer rearward and it can hang up on your clothing/coats, etc. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/20/2011 11:37PM by Spencer Phipps.
