Guide layout question

Building a 7' spinning rod which is 2 piece. Layed out choker per NGC 27x formula. My stripper guide is 22" in front of the reel face based on line slope from reel to choker. The stripper is a 30mm. I have 6" from the stripper to the top of the bottom section and 12" on the top section between the choker and and the bottom end of the top section. The bottom of the top section flares out to form the female ferrule (3" length) leaving only 9" in which I could mount another guide. I really feel that going from 30mm to a 4mm choker needs something in between, but I have no idea how to do it.

Thanks in advance

Larry

Something doesn't sound right with the math. A spool that is small enough to locate a choker guide that close shouldn't require a size 30 butt guide.

Add a litte more information just so we can check. What is the spool diameter? What size and type line are you using?

Tom,

Spool diameter is 37mm, reel seat to center of spool is 75mm. Spool to choker is 1 meter.

Maybe I need to go to a higher 20mm butt guide? Like a Fuji YSG?

Using 6lb mono. Choker and runners are Fuji BLAG's.

By all means try a high frame 20. I think that will take care of the matter for you. That size line and reel wouldn't require a size 30 butt guide. It will work, but it's not at all necessary.

Larry,
Simplify
Any time that I do a 2 piece 7 foot rod, I just put the first guide about 3 inches below the splice, then put the rest of the guides on the 2nd half. Seldom do you need more than one guide on the butt section of a rod of this length.
