Rod Building Exposure

I am excited to let you guys in on my good fortune. I built a rod for Charlie Moore the Mad Fishermen who has a show on Versus network. He has seen some of my other work as i started rod building in massachusetts. It turns out some of my Mass customers know him. I invited him to come too my shop (Marco Island Florida) and go fishing with a custom rod builder. He will film with me for 5 days and I will introduce him to the world of custom rod building. The show is called Charlie Moore No Offense and we are filming March 6 thru 12. The only negative is it just killed my trip to High Point! It only is positive for custom Rod Builders to gain some national exposure though. He is sponsored by carrot styx so I wanted to build a "broccolli" rod. Just to give him a hard time. Any ideas in the short time I have?

good luck with it..you will be representing all rodbuilders and present the only image many will see of custom rodbuilding..it is a great opportunity as well as a great responsibility..i wish you the best...

maybe make a rod that utilizes some of the best techniques and methods we share here everyday...some thoughts-carbon handles, micro guides, and then there are possible aesthetic options too numberous to name....

Knowing his stuff fairly well here in new england., I would say he's probably going to be more interested in the PRACTICAL application of rod building, and will probably highly "question" the bling (based on some posts on his forum, thread-art, etc is not well understood). Avoid @#$%&, and stick to facts, and you'll probably be ok. I doubt he'd warm-up to any kind of vegetable stick, broccoli, carrot, or otherwise...try a "smokin cigar" stick and you'll be in! This could be really good exposure for rod building here in new england. Let us know when it'll be on - and congrats!

Hey Billy I just checked out his BIO. You need to find out all there is to know about him! He has a list of celebrities. will a fill a book He has fished in most States. Remember he is fishing in your pond. So if you build him a rod, build it for your area. There are many differnt fish where you are a build one for each. Remember you are getting 100 grand of free advertisement. Do your self well and remember you are representing the whole community of rod designers/builder

Good Wraps Bob

Thanks guys, Been watching Charlie since he was only a local new england show in the early 90s on NESN. I ofcourse have all necesary custom rods for fishing in my area for jigging live bait pitching etc. All made for given task and yes even with bling. He wants too try them all. His new show that I will be on is more serious then his other shows and deal more with destinations and lifestyles. He's interested in the fact that I have worked in alaska keys poconos as well as here on marco. Should be fun he's a nut. Can,t wait to see the look on his face when he gets a 150 # goliath on.

Jim Little known fact. Dale Clemons lived on north Collier for years. He moved to arizona because his wife got sick and couldn't handle the humidity. Any way I decided to build a mad fish theme rod. I began inlaying his logo in eva handle last night.
