I am moving from steelhead country to muskie country and would like to build a rod so I can hit the ground running. Can somebody suggest a good all around muskie rod for the minnatonka Minn area? Thanks much!

Somebody is going to try to sell you one muskie rod blank for jerkbaits, another for crankbaits, another for trolling, another for jigging, etc. You must decide upon a compromise blank or put out for the full Monty.

St. Croix's all the way. I have built several muskie rods and highly recommend St. Croix. I personaly like the Legend Tournament line of blanks, but the others will work well also.

I am also in the need for some musky rods from St. Croix...I have one and absolutely love it. The only place I have seen St. Croix Musky blanks is Mudhole, and just wanted to know if there were any other places to find them...

Also...always looking to keep some customers happy with competitive pricing...american/baston/CRB baston rod gurus...what is the compariable rods to something like St. Croix's 2M80MF?

Thanks guys, I think I settled on a 7.5' 3/4-3oz for spinner and bucktail work for now. I am sure I will end up with more before it is all over.

The heavy rods in the Avid Inshore lineup make some nice musky rods as well. I'm sure you're aware that the Avid musky rods (and blanks) aren't in production anymore. I just built a 3SW80HF for a small crankbait and bucktail rod. It's perfect for the application and it's a sweet colored blank to boot.
