Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

Hey guys. I was a little curious about this topic. I have done an open diamond wrap on one of my rods. I am yet to apply CP to it. When applying, do I have to worry about getting it in the open part of the blank? Will this cause cloudiness once the epoxy is applied? I hope this is a good question as I have never used CP before considering that this is my 2nd build.
I appreciate all answers. Thank you! Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

Gabe,
I've been building for over 35 years and never had an issue with the CP on the blank clouding up after applying the expoxy. Make sure it is dry and go for it. Tight lines, John Hernandez Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

Only at the end of the wrap where the tie offs are, or guide wraps do you have to worry about the CP preventing the epoxy from "sticking" to the blank. Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

John,
At the end of your wrap make sure you don't have any cp from under your finish. If any is showing past your finish moisture can be wicked in under your wraps and make them cloudy. Lewis "Fuzz" Morgan Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

You could just finish the rod with NO application of CP.
Up to you. Roger Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

Gabe whatever you decide, do not do what Roger just said unless you want to practice cutting a wrap off and being really mad at listening to advice oyu get on the internet. Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

Billy,
Actually, it depends on the look that you want from your rod. If you want a matching color look - use CP. If you want a transparent look, don't use CP. Roger Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying

YOu really have to watch the advice you give, because you will end up making people do things on their rod and royally screw them up based on your advice.
Gabe - if oyu put no CP on your diamond wrap that you used MAdeira on, you will end up wth a complete disaster on your hands. Anyone else reading this, the same thing will happen to you. If anyone wanted a transparant look on their rod they would specifically ask about doing a Tartan, and they would not be looking to use CP in the first place and have such a question. Madeira = CP or you are asking for problems. VERY few people have gotten good results w./o CP onMadeira, then there are the 99% of us that have abortions. Re: Applying CP accidentally on the blank then epoxying
