Hi guys
I may be doing a rod for a bass guy that has to cast up to 1/2 oz. And less. he is the guy that wants a 5 1/2' 2 piece rod. So I found several 6' two piece ULs that go up to 1/4 oz lure weight. Has any one trimmed some thing like this and raised the lure weight up. Thinking if 2 1/2 " off the tip and butt. Thanks Bill - willierods.com Re: Trimming an UL

Bill I'd be concerned that trimming a UL blank and using it as a Medium power rod would be "overpowering" the blank and lead to a blank failure. Another option would be to split a one piece 5'6" M rod and install a ferule.
Good luck. Dan Re: Trimming an UL

Bill -
If it doesn't have to be a 50/50 split why not install a ferrule under the handle / fore grip? Sort of "old school" Re: Trimming an UL

2 St Croix blanks that should work:
2S60MLF2 6' 2 piece 4-10# 1/8-1/2oz lure rating 2S60MF2 6' 2 piece 6-12, 1/4-5/8oz lure rating No need for a UL blank, St Croix and Lami make 6' blanks like this! Re: Trimming an UL
