Will thread finish hardener stay clear if kept in freezer??

Since thread finish hardener gets amber with age, would keeping it in the freezer slow or eliminate the process. I have a large (unopened) supply of a finish and would like to keep the stock as clear as possible.

Thanks for responding if you can help with experience.

I don't think so, either. I think that the yellowing is caused by exposure to light (the UV). So, if you kept it in the dark this may help

I live in Alaska and can tell you freezing doesent help at least on flex coat And you have to heat it 2 -3 times to get all the chunks out.

I notice my hardener slowly turning amber from clear - kept in the dark at 75 degrees all year in FL. Since I only wrap with dark colors it really does not matter that much - I guess.

You can wrap a rod and then put it in a closet and it will still yellow some. Keep in mind that when looking at it in a bottle you are looking through a pretty thick amount of it. When it's mixed and a applied, it's a VERY thin layer and isn't really noticeable.

There's nothing you can do to keep it clear. Age is the main culprit and it's going to turn amber/yellow even after you mix and apply it to the rod.

Tom you mentioned earlier about a new finish that will be introduced at the show. Will it priced where we can afford it?

I intend to find out how this new finish works right there at the show. We (well, my wife) will have one wrap ready for a finish and one in progress. By Sunday we should all know something about this finish.

Paul,

Yes. In fact, that's why it hasn't been introduced sooner. Previously, at $18 per ounce, wholesale, it wasn't feasible. But recent advancements in technology and price will allow it to sell, ounce for ounce, for about what most epoxies sell for now.
