First of all, thanks for all the replis in the thread below. Lots of options (as usual) for blank selection.
[rodbuilding.org] Did some more question asking with the guy, and the current rod he is using is a Quantum Cabo CBIS80ML Rod (not produced any longer). This rod is rated for 4-6lb test and 1/16-1/2oz. He fishes with 10lb braid, wants backbone, and a "soft" tip for bonefishing. In my research, the blanks listed in the previous thread/link above are rated more for 6-12lb or 8-17lb. Is there an 8fter out there that I am missing that would more closely get to the 4-6lb line rating and mimic the CBIS80ML he currently has? Thanks again. Re: 8'0 Spinning Blank Continuation Thread

Jesster,
Cabela's Traditional II 805 2-piece 8' 5 weight fly rod blank. .371 butt OD 4 tip In spinning terms would be considered a light power rod. I fish mine with tippets down to 8x (about 2#) with an WF 8 weight fly line. Good butt strength, light tip, reasonable price. Eugene Moore Re: 8'0 Spinning Blank Continuation Thread

I agree with Spencer Phipps, IST993F - that's the closest length, lure weight is dead on for bone fish, and lightest line weight I can find in the catalogs. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
