Very cool! I really like what I'm seeing, I'll be ordering your DVD when it comes out. This is exactly what I was talking about in my other post. I think this will make it easy for everyone to understand the wraps. Re: Decorative Wraps Pattern Animations > Preview the DVD

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. We're launching this at the ICRBE in a couple of weeks. Can't wait! The desire was to present cross wrap patterns in a very simple, intuitive format. We ended up with what we call "Decorative Wraps Pattern Animations". The "Decorative Wraps" title follows the branding Billy introduced with his book, and "Pattern Animations" are what they are: individual movie animations showing patterns developing thread-by-thread, then presented in 3D. This first DVD is inspired by many of the wraps that appear on the photo page of this site. We've started with 20 patterns, mainly Spiders, St John's Crosses and Roses. The DVD includes a colourful slide show of each pattern, which should be great for showing a prospective customer so they can make their choice, or for simply browsing yourself. It's then easy to play the selected pattern animation and watch the pattern develop. When it comes to actually doing the wrap you'll still need a method to calculate your pattern spacings, and still need to know how to lay threads on a rod. That is assumed knowledge, and not covered in this DVD. Hopefully you can detect an attitude in the General Introduction video that Billy listed in his post. I think thread art is amazing and fun, and want to share the "how to" knowledge with everyone. The NERBs Wizard captures this perfectly. Is this a replacement for VisualWRAP? Well, it's apples and oranges. VizWrap is software that lets you design and create wraps. The price you pay for the flexibility of VizWrap is the initial learning curve, plus headaches caused by Microsoft continually pulling the rug from under software developers (tweaks required to run on Vista & Win7). The Dec Wraps Pattern Animations DVD takes the best part of VizWrap (the thread-by-thread visualisation) and presents it in a simple format that can be played on your DVD player. There are even more playback options in the wings, watch this space... I'd like to think the Pattern Animations can complement the software (and also complement Billy's Dec Wraps book), and will be more suitable than the software for a lot of people who are looking for a straightforward presentation of pattern information. I'd like to thank Mud Hole Tackle for their initial support in making this DVD available, and Tom Kirkman for his organisation of the ICRBE, giving us the opportunity to mix with rod builders from everywhere. Further feedback (including vendor enquiries) is welcome. We'll shortly have more info up on a website. Tight Wraps! David -
Awesome - and thankfully Cally did the voice over and not Billy .......... I can't imagine how "hte" would sound on the DVD ---- LOL! And now you have presented me with a real dilemma - do I stand in line for this DVD or do I stand in line for the one part rod finish? Probably a good thing Lana is coming with me - one for each line! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/03/2011 08:30AM by Ken Preston. Re: Decorative Wraps Pattern Animations > Preview the DVD

Do you know we actually joked that we should be including subtitles, just in case people don't understand the Aussie accent? LOL Re: Decorative Wraps Pattern Animations > Preview the DVD

Your only "problem" will be people asking for her autograph rather than yours or Billy's. Beautifully presented - pronunciation and annunciation are perfectly clear ...... Of course I lived there for 10 years. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
