shop fox has a nice portable one that is good for small shops. you can also put a good filter on a box fan. it all depends on how fine the particles you are trying to collect Re: Shop air cleaners

This really depends on what you want to control/remove and how much money you are willing to spend ......... See here for more info:

A good question might be, How many builders use any kind of shop filter at all? I don't use any in my building area although I do use this set up in my lathe area [www.rodbuilding.org] Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! In my dirty room, I simply use a shop vac on the lathe.
When finished, I sweep up, then use compressed air to blow any dust out the door. In my clean room, I use a honewell room air filter on low, just to keep air moving and to take care of any floating dust in the room. I never do any "dirty" work - i.e. sanding, or lathe work in the clean room. The lathe work is done in a separate building, so there is never an issue with lathe dust in the wrapping and finish area. On my big tools ( table saw, band saw, lathe, etc. ) I have them connected to a dust collector. When I am hand sanding I have a 20" box fan with a AC filter attached to both sides set near the work area. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
