Can someone give me the snake guide sizes for a 9"6 fly rod. I plan on using 12mm and 10mm stripping guides but want to know what size snake guides I should use. Thanks Bill

What weight line are you casting? How big are the connections that you need to pass?

If you are using a standard WF line you can go smaller than if you are using a shooting head system with loop to loop conectors. In addition to that if it is going to be used in cold weather (salmon/steelhead) guide size is different than warmer weather.

You probably get by with a 7. Where do think you will place the stripper guide?

I'd go with a 3, 2 than 1s to the tip with that size stripping guides.

There are still a lot of unknown factors around this. Possibility of overlining? Type of fishing you are going to do etc. All of my build s 7wt and over start with a 16 and then 12 double foot guides, and the majority are built using single foot ceramics, but when using either SF or DF wire snakes, it makes a difference if you are using lite or heavy wire.

Bill,
I'd probably go with a pair of 4's, followed by a pair of 3's and titanium light wire 2's to the tip.
The 10 and 12 strippers are fine.
