Decal and Finish

I am in the process of building a rod and using decal logos for the first time. The finish and decal didn't turn out the way I wanted them when I put them on the rod. Is there a good way to tear down the decal and finish in that area to reapply and refinish or am I stuck with what I have?

Perhaps the easiest way to correct things would be to wrap a layer of thread over what you have now, apply a coat of epoxy, and start over.

If your current epoxy in that area is wavy or lumpy, you can block it level and then apply a wrap and subsequent finish.

I wrapped a rod for a friend with a topless mermaid! Unfortunately, his girlfriend wasn't as happy as we were to see how well it turned out.
You could heat up the finish and deconstruct it like how you do with a guide wrap, but that might be difficult since there isn't thread to pull off the finish.
In my case, I just did a solid color wrap over the decal. If you finish is uneven, you might need to lightly sand it and make it level and smooth.
good luck.

Thanks! I think that is the ticket and what I will do. Much appreciation!
