I've noticed the info on "mudulus positionin", but what is used in them? Is it equivalent to RX6, 7, 8 or a combination? Re: What is the modulus used in MHX blanks?

The MHX blanks are comprised of various modulus carbon materials. Some blanks are offered as "Blends". Those blanks have various type graphite materials being used to achieve specific actions in the MHX Blend blanks, which contain both intermediate or mid-range modulus materials within one blank. Those blanks are not blends of graphite and glass. Other blanks that we offer may contain single type graphite modulus materials. Most of those type blanks incorporate a upper range modulus material that is used. The blanks are made of high quality materials, I assure you. We really cannot share much more infromation about the materials our blanks are made of, as it is somewhat proprietory info. The performance level of the blanks is what we really pride ourselves in. The designs of each and every MHX blank is what really makes these blanks excel. We continue to design and release more new models that will be released in 2011. Besides all the new models that have been released recently, there are 15 new models in the 2011 catalog, which is being mailed as we speak. We strive for perfection in the MHX line-up and always welcome comments, suggestions and feed-back. Thank You for considering the MHX product line and be ready for more and more to come in 2011. Marty,
Generally speaking - it is not that important about what "modulus" a particular rod has in its composition. The important thing for a rod blank is very simple - does the rod blank to the job that the fisherperson needs the rod to do. i.e. is the rod the right weight, are the blank walls the right thickness. Today, many blank makers use many different types of materials in the same rod blank. You may have a stiff composition in the butt section, a less stiff composition in the mid section, and a fairly flexible composition in the tip section. Rather than worry about modulus, which tends to be meaningless any way - worry about the performance and effectivness of the blank. Good luck Roger Re: What is the modulus used in MHX blanks?

It's not the names of the materials which makes the best blanks. If it were that simple the most extravagant marketing claim would quickly identify the best blank. A wand or a rod blank can be made of everything from pre-stressed concrete to 12th generation nano-titanium graphite. (I made up the last part. Sounds good, doesn't it?)
The best way to identify the best blank is to use it. Next to that I would solicit the opinion of an accomplished fly angler without an apparent ulterior motive (compensation) for recommending one blank or another. For what it's worth, I really like my four-piece #6 MHX rod. Re: What is the modulus used in MHX blanks?

There are many attributes that make up a reliable rod, materials and workmanship are a couple. Lots of tools to use like CCS, company name, and suggestions from those who may have held a similar rod or the rod you are looking for in their hands. I am not sure that an accomplised fly fishermen could give me any better advice than an accomplished rod builder, or an accomplished catfishermen. Proven results and longevity in the business would carry a long way in quality, I have yet to see a bad blank suggested by anyone on this site for the intended application that wouldn't be a good fit. They are suggested by accomplished rod builders and accomplished fishermen, this site is full of them. Just my thoughts. Re: What is the modulus used in MHX blanks?

The modulus is important, information is power.
You can get a good idea of modulus by comparing the prices to other brands where the modulus is known. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
