Gary, Acetone can be mixed with some Epoxy Finishes ( 3 eye drops per one Oz.) This will cause bubbles to burst while mixing. It will also thin the mixture. Down side cure time is increased by a couple of hours.

i tried dripping some finish into a bowl of water.. i emptied out the water the following day and was left with a 'close to perfect' sphere of rod finish.. moreover, in Singapore, RH is pretty high, often ranging around 70%~90% (Garey knows how humid it is).. so i don't believe water or humidity has much effect, if any, on the curing of the finish. the ball of finish was discolored, though i am not sure if it was due to the water being dirty..
