I am putting a weave between split grips. The grips are going to be the X flock that are heat shrunk. These grips have to go on after I do the weave. The finish ends of the weave will run under the grips on the top and bottom.
So my question is when I do the heat shrink tubing what can I use to avoid damaging the finish on the weave? Re: protecting a finish from heat

I think you need an air barrier. Get a toilet paper or paper towel tube and shim it so it fits over the weave or wrap in the area where you do not want heat to disturb anything. Some heat will transfer from the ends of course but not enough to harm anything I think. Just put an air barrier between the main area that you do not want heated. Just an idea but I think it will work. Re: protecting a finish from heat

Tape is cheap! I have done this before, twice! Once ending up with a re-wrap, the 2nd one turned out great!
I took some regular paper and wrapped the wrap, then taped the ends down with 5 or 6 wraps. Had no problems, after that. JMHO Lee Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
