Rod spline--I made a mistake!!

I recently installed a new cork handle on one of my spinning rods. After the adhesive had set, I realized that I installed the handle upside down--that is, opposite the position it should have been in to take advantage of the power side of the rod spline. How bad of a mistake is this??

Thanks

Most don't worry about the spine but just build on the straightest access of the blank. If it has a bend in it putting the bend pointing to the sky and putting the guides below on the curve.

The softest and stiffest sides or axis of the blank are not 180 degrees opposite each other. In the long run, spine makes little to no difference. It's highly doubtful that you'll ever notice it.

On the other hand, if you feel it's going to be something that will mess with your head over the life and use of the rod, you can always shave the cork grip off and reinstall a new one. But before I did that I'd tape on some guides and go out and cast it a bit. I think you'll find that everything works just fine.

Actually my mistake is that I have the bend in the blank pointing toward the floor rather than toward the sky.

Does the rod tip point to the floor or up? If its to the floor you are good to go...

The rod tip points toward the floor and I have not put the guide on yet.

Most prefer it pointing up, but it's still going to work fine.
