I am going to be finishing a rod tonight and will be using threadmaster high build. Can i mix 6cc of each and be ok? Thanks! Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. Marines dont have that problem - Ronald Regan Re: Threadmaster question

Yes 6CC each is fine. Do you need that much? For the fly rods I build I only mix about 2 CC's each, of course larger rods will require more epoxy. Re: Threadmaster question

6 ccs will decrease your margin of error. However that is a lot of finish. 3ccs of each is usually enough to do a 6 to 7 ft rod with a decent sized butt wrap. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Threadmaster question

3 of each should be plenty and allow for minor differences in volumes Re: Threadmaster question

I think you mean that 6ccs of each will INCREASE the margin for error. The more you mix the less any small error in measuring will matter.
The important thing is to mix equal portions of both, measuring carefully. Then it doesn't matter if you mix 2ccx of each or 20ccs of each. One thing about larger batches though, the more epoxy you contain in a small area the more heat will be generated and the quicker the stuff will set. So make sure that after mixing you pour it out onto a piece of foil so the heat can escape and you can preserve the natural pot life of that epoxy. Re: Threadmaster question

We always talk about the amount mixed, lets not forget to MIX the two parts properly, I think this is where many fail and end up with curing issues.

Oh, and let us not forget NOT to use a medical syringe as they are silicone based. Many of us, to include myslef, know that this can ruin a batch of thread finish... Re: Threadmaster question
