Dear Members, what brand and size thread do you suggest I start with? I saltwater fish in south Florida and read the under wraps should be in D size and guides with an A size. Thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome. Happy New Year! Aquarius Rods - Ray Pembroke Pines, Fl Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

Just make sure to stay with a real rod building thread for the least amount of trouble and best success. Gudebrod, Fishhawk or the new Prowrap are all good choices that you cannot go wrong with! Not really necessary to use underwraps but if you do go with the smaller A on the bottom and larger C or D on the top. Trying to wrap smaller thread on top of larger thread is difficult to say the least. Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

Ray,
FishHawk offers a nice starter kit with our most popular color assortment of 20 spools. Please contact one of our dealers and they will be glad to help you out. Thanks Scott Parsons 919-900-8998 [www.roddancer.com] [www.fishhawkthreads.com] Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

Hey wasn't Mudhole coming out with their version of Gudebrod Trimar? Has anyone heard anything on that? Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

I think that's American Tackle that was / is working on the Trimar type thread with MudHole as a major distributor Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

If your building heavy saltwater rods we would recommend size A under warps with size D over warps. However for most saltwater rods an under warp is not needed.
Several thread kits from Pac Bay, ProWrap, Maderia & Sulky are available at the link below: [www.mudhole.com] The ProWrap Metallic Twist and Flat Braids will be available in about 2 to 4 weeks along with the medium size (1oz) spools of metallic thread. Although demand initially outplaced supply, we are happy to say that all spool sizes and colors (139 colors) of ProWrap nylon and metallic are now in stock and can be ordered at: [www.mudhole.com] Regards. Thanks. I found a ProWrap assortment kit on @#$%&, but can't track it down on Mudhole. I wanted to purchase the kit on Mudhole so I can add some other items, but I can't track it down on your site. Who should I talk to add Mud for the @#$%& kit? Aquarius Rods - Ray Pembroke Pines, Fl Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

I'd recommend the assortment pack from fish hawk in size A. I believe I ordered mine from acid rod. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/02/2011 10:31PM by Ben Claxton. Re: Starter Thread Assortment Kit

Ray -
Why not just pick the colors you want off MudHole's site rather than a pre-packed assortment? Seems that way you will get more selection in colors (there are a lot of them in ProWrap size A) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
